Since this is a multi-year league with a sustaining structure, the trade deadline will begin when our playoffs start and trading will open up again as soon as the season is over. All trades will be accepted on ESPN when applicable and will also need to be posted on proboards under "trades". Both owners will need to accept in writing and include an explanation as to why they made the deal. A three member trade committee will then vote on the trade. Two votes will be needed for the deal to pass. The Committee will consist of myself, Curtis (the non-team owning co-lm) and a third member to be named later.
If any of the following happen, the trade will not be processed. 1) The trade is not accepted on ESPN. 2) Both owners fail to accept the deal in writing on proboards. 3) The trade committee deems the trade unfair.
The purpose of a trade committee is to ensure the long term health of the league. Bad trades that hurt a team will hurt the league long term. My hope is that we never have to veto a trade, but if and when that happens, feedback will be provided to assist the involved parties in restructuring the deal so that it can pass.
Vetoed trades and bad trades are always touchy. I just ask that all owners give the trades some thought before accepting. If you feel that the trade is unfair, it probably is. Do your best to create fair deals before accepting, doing so will avoid possible issues as it pertains to vetoes.
In short, it's up to you. If you make great deals, vetoes will not exist in this league.
