Contracts:
Each player must be assigned a contract prior to being added to a team. The contracts may be 1-5 years in duration. Minimum total values of a contract are as follows: 1yr=0.5mil, 2yrs=4mil, 3yrs=9mil, 4yrs=16mil, and 5yrs=25mil. Contracts may decrease over time, but cannot increase (IE, you can front load a contract, but not back load it).
Salary Cap:
Each Team is given a yearly payroll of $150mil to spend on players. Remaining funds at the years end will 'roll-over' to the next season's total cap (if Team A spends only $140mil in 2012, they will have a cap of 160mil in 2013). Funds may be traded as each owner pleases.
Bidding:
The player bidding system will be initiated by the LM and will have a maximum of 10 players being bid on at any time. Players will be put up to auction in decending order based on the ESPN rankings. A player is issued a contract when a high bid has been active for 24 hours. At which time the winning team will make a final reply to the post claiming the player as signed and add them to their roster.
Bids will take the following form:
# years - $(total contract value)
(value y1) / (value y2)... (value final year) / FA
As such the standard minimum 5 year contract reads as follows:
5 years - $25mil
5/5/5/5/5/FA
An owner has the option to offer a final year of the contract as a player option. This would be an additional year of the contract that the owner may choose whether or not to excersize by the end of November. Players with options not excercized by Dec 1 return to the free agency pool. The value of a player option year cannot be less than the most expensive year of a player's contract. A player option cannot be offered on a five year contract. Player options are not 'guaranteed money' and therefore do not count towards the total value of a contract offer. For salary cap purposes, player options assumed to be 'picked up' and therefore reserve funds from future year's cap which cannot exceed $150mil (+any traded funds).
An owner may indicate a player option with an asterisk, as follows:
4yrs - 16mil
4/4/4/4/4*/FA
